Need More Ad Clicks ??? Try These Tips
The big question of the day: How do I get people to click on the ads that are placed in my articles? We all know that to make more money we need more people clicking on our ads but how do we do this without asking people to click on them? This is totally against Google AdSense rules. Do not ask people to click on your ads. Okay, if we can't do this then what do we do? Here are some handy tips to help increase clicks on your ads:
1.) Ad placement: Check the placement of your ads. If you have ads at the top of your page you may want to move them to the sides or bottom. This is recommended by the experts. They say that people tend to ignore them when they are placed at the top of the article.
2.) Number of ads: Too many ads make a website or blog appear messy and confusing and sometimes even give your article a cheap look. You may also want to lighten up on the ads; two or three is enough.
3.) Design your ads: Choose colors that are appealing to the eye. Your colors should blend nicely with the format of your webpage or blog. Do they match? Are they too bright? Are they easy to read? If you can't read them easily then no one else can either.
4.) Highly relevant ads: Are your ads related to the content of your article? They will be ignored if they are not. People visit your site because they are looking for information. If your ads aren't related to the topic of your article they will be ignored.
5.) Format of your ads: Do your ads fit nicely in the sidebars of your article? Do they overlap or are they cut off? Check and see; if they're cut off who's going to read them?
6.) Ad banners: The most common size ad banner is 468 X 60. If a banner this size doesn't fit nicely on your web page then downsize to 300 X 250 or 125 X 125. The largest is the most popular, although the other 2 sizes are used by many companies too. When designing your banners you can try using reverse psychology to get people to click on them. An example of this is to say, "Do Not Read this Ad!" We all like to read something that we're told not to. You can also try using words that attract people such as FREE, HOT, POWERFUL! (Maybe not in the same ad though) We sure don't have to be rocket scientists to figure out why people are attracted to these words!
7.) Now about your web page: Does it fit into the browser window? Do you have to scroll sideways to read your article? If so then it's time to make a change. You may have to take time to read some tutorials to do this but it is worth it in the end. If your web page or blog is attractive you will attract more viewers.
8.) Too many links: Is your web page or blog littered with links? If you have too many, your readers can hardly see your ads. Lighten up on the links and even try lightening up on your widgets. You're looking for more traffic so make your article presentable and enticing so people will visit and even want to stay for a while.
9.) What type of font should I use: I visited a website the other day where I had to squint to read the article. As a matter of fact I couldn't even make out what the article said. The background was dark blue and the font was black. Boo... This was a terrible combination. I'm pretty sure the font was smaller than the norm and it was also italicized. Do not do this to your article! If you do you'll never get any visitors.
10.) Experiment: Last of all, experiment with your website. Move your ads around, change their size, then watch and see what works best. One blog may differ from another. You may get more clicks on one web page than the other simply because of the placement of the ads. Jot down your results, then compare them a week or so later to see if you're ad clicks are increasing. You may not want as many ads on one website as another. It all depends on what works best.
There really isn't a whole lot more that you can do to increase your ad clicks unless you want to invest some money in Google Adwords or something like this. I'd rather not spend money to increase views and ad clicks so I try to make my site a more enjoyable place to visit. Experiment, research, try changing the placement of your ads, change the template for a more inviting read...all of the above tips are recommended by the pros.
